OBD Testing
On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) systems are self-diagnostic systems incorporated into the computers of vehicles that monitor virtually every component that can affect vehicle emissions. If a problem with an emissions-related component is detected, the OBD system illuminates a warning lamp on the vehicle instrument panel to alert the driver and also stores information about the detected malfunctions to aid any needed repairs.
Opacity Testing
Diesel non-OBD vehicles (2012 and older diesel engines) are required to complete a smoke opacity test and a visual inspection of the vehicle's emissions control equipment, referred to in this program as the Vehicle Emissions Control Equipment Inspection. Alternative fuel non-OBD vehicles (2017 and older alternative fuel engines) are only required to complete the visual inspection and are not subject to the smoke opacity test requirement.
OVI Testing
For diesel engines of model year 2012 and older, and alternative fuel engines of model year 2017 and older, the Clean Truck Check requires a visual inspection of the vehicle's emissions control equipment. The OVI helps verify that emissions control equipment on older diesel and alternative fuel vehicles is in proper working order. A credentialed tester must conduct a visual inspection using the Vehicle Emissions Control Equipment Form provided by CARB.

After scheduling an appointment, our team, dispatches a credentialed tester and provides customers with an accurate time of arrival.
